Frequently Asked Questions

If these don't answer your questions, please get in touch and we'll do our very best.

How much does it cost?

We review our costs with every single project.  Currently volunteer projects cost £2000 for a two week commitment (excluding flights).  Sponsored projects cost will vary depending on the desired role of the sponsor, and will be bespoke to each and every project.

Who are the other participants?

Our particiapants come from all over the world and have ranged in age from 10 (Pete's kids) up to 67.  We welcome individuals, groups, families, students and professionals.

Is it Safe?

All travel and all building comes with risk.  Our team in South Africa has more than 20 years experience of leading volunteers on construction sites and in exploring all that South Africa has to offer.  Every year there are minor scrapes and bumps.  Our team is first aid certifed to help.

Independent Travel?

YES YES YES!!  We can't make any of the arrangements for you or your group.  But we are more than happy to help you coordinate your adventure and to offer our recommendations for our favourite spots.

Where will we stay?

This will be dependent on our projects.  Our current projects based in Limpopo allow us to stay on a private farm and fishing venue in the breathtaking Magoebaskloof area.

How do I get there?

Each participant is responsible for booking a flight to Johannesburg (JNB) airport on your project's first day.  We will have a bus to collect everyone at the airport and to move people to and from the site every day.

Special Diets?

Our catering team is well prepared to accomodate allergies and any special diets.

What is a typcial day?

We tend to work sun up to sun set and convene for a team dinner in the evening.  We take lots of breaks on site and make sure everyone is well looked after.

Do I need to be an architect or architecture student?

No!  We are happy for anyone who wants to travel and leave behind a positive impact to join our team.
